Your conservatory is essentially a greenhouse, trapping the sun's heat within the glass trapping it. This means that you end up with a room which is unbearably hot. You want somewhere to sit and enjoy your garden, not a solar powered kiln.
Most people get around this by having blinds fitted, but there are problems with blinds:
-
The space between the glass of the window and the blind with get very, very hot and this heat will radiate through the blind into the conservatory.
-
Cloth or wood blinds will become dull as they are faded through direct UV light from the sun.
-
You blind will also act as a trap for dirt and dust. It can be a chore to clean as you have to remove all of the railings and blinds themselves to access the upper side. This is especially a problem for anyone with allergies or asthma.
Compare the effectiveness and expense of our excellent Solar Protection Film with traditional Conservatory Blinds.
For the averaged sized conservatory, opening and closing each of the blinds can be a lengthy process. You can get around this if you pay for automated blinds (expensive) or just don't open them. The problem with this is that what is the point of having a conservatory if you are going to have the blinds shut all of the time? Installing window film is far more cost effective, reduces excessive heat and glare from the sun and doesn't obscure the view.
